Shippo Cares about Community Causes

The old adage “it’s better to give than to receive” came alive at Shippo this year. We believe that giving literally puts a bigger smile on our face than receiving. (You can see the proof below!)

Shippo joined more than 3000 companies in 80 countries to Pledge 1%. Pledge 1% is a global movement to create a new normal in which giving back is integrated into the DNA of companies of all sizes. Pledge 1% encourages and challenges individuals and companies to Pledge 1% of equity, profit, product, and/or employee time to their communities and any cause they choose.   

In the last few months, we’ve dedicated over 100 hours to community giving and volunteering with organizations of our choice and below we’ve included a quick recap of the places we visited to give our time.

Dress for Success

The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

San Francisco-Marin Food Bank

San Francisco-Marin Food Bank has a mission to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin. They envision a community where everyone is able to obtain enough nutritious food to support the health and well-being of themselves and their families.

Friends of the Urban Forest

Friends of the Urban Forest helps individuals and neighborhood groups plant and care for street trees and sidewalk gardens in San Francisco. This “green infrastructure” improves the city by beautifying neighborhoods, cleaning the air, raising property values, and reducing polluted stormwater runoff. Since 1981, FUF has planted more than 60,000 trees, totaling almost half of the city’s street tree canopy.

We’re thrilled to continue our program with a variety of organizations across the Bay Area this year.
