Monthly Product Digest: Automated Confirmation Emails, a New Carrier Integration, and More

Monthly Product Digest

We are laser-focused on taking any friction out of the shipping experience, which is why we’re regularly updating our products to help you and your customers during the fulfillment process. To make sure you’re taking advantage of relevant Shippo updates, here are highlights from our March product updates, and what they make possible.

Automate Your Shipping Confirmation Email

We recently launched a new feature in the Shippo web app to automate the process for sending shipment notifications to customers.

In your Settings page, turn “Auto Email Notification” ON and Shippo will automatically send the order confirmation email to the package recipient whenever a label is purchased — no more extra clicks required!

We recommend only using one automatic method to send notifications to your customers to prevent sending multiple emails.

The Carriers Corner: A New Integration and Service Option

Our Newest Carrier Integration: Globegistics

This month, we announced our newest carrier integration with Globegistics. It’s one of the six shipping consolidators partnered with Shippo.

Shipping consolidators group packages from multiple customers into one shipment that’s headed to the destination country. Once it arrives, the local Post Office of the destination country will separate the packages and deliver each one to the intended recipient. Grouping the packages into one shipment allows consolidators to offer discounted rates typically reserved for large-volume shippers.

Introducing Do Not Safe Drop for Canada Post

If a package recipient is not available for a delivery, Canada Post will leave the package in a safe location nearby. Canada Post calls this a safe drop.

They’ll only make a safe drop if:

  • There is a safe place that is sheltered from weather and cannot be seen by passers-by, such as inside a porch or inside a storm door.
  • The parcel does not require a signature or collection of funds, such as duties, postage fees or other fees.
  • The sender has not requested “Do not safe drop.”

“Do not safe drop” is available for API users. If you want to request “Do not safe drop”, you need to set authority_to_leave boolean to “false” in the “extra” field of the shipment object.

ICYMI: Shippo Introduced Tracking Pages

The period after an online purchase is an optimal time to engage with a customer, and to establish and increase brand loyalty. With Tracking Pages, retailers can customize tracking notifications, curating a style and look that connects with their buyers. Shippo’s Tracking Pages are easy to implement, flexible, and scalable.
