DHL eCommerce on Shippo

With Shippo, any business can now access DHL eCommerce in the United States alongside the many other shipping providers that we support. DHL eCommerce is a discounted postage partnership program created between DHL and USPS. Packages are first pre-sorted within DHL’s eCommerce distribution centers, expediting the process, then inserted into the mail stream for final delivery via USPS. 

We’ve created an quick FAQ to help you figure out if you’re a good fit for DHL eCommerce services. 

Q: What is DHL eCommerce and how is it different from the other DHL options Shippo offers?

DHL eCommerce provides various service levels for businesses based on specific package weight and dimensions. Packages are sorted in DHL facilities and delivered by USPS. For expedited services, the estimated delivery time is 2-5 days, and for ground services, the estimated delivery is from 3-8 days. DHL is also an established carrier of Dangerous Goods. With DHL eCommerce, approved merchants are now able to send items that are considered dangerous at a much lower shipping rate. Below are some examples of the dangerous goods that can be shipped through DHL eCommerce upon approval:

  • Lithium batteries
  • Perfumes
  • Food flavourings 
  • Chemicals
  • Electronic equipments 
Q: Do I need my own DHL eCommerce account?

Yes, you will need to enter your own DHL eCommerce account to activate this option (this account is different than other DHL accounts you may have). You will need to provide the following information:

  • DHL eCommerce Client ID
  • DHL eCommerce Password
  • DHL eCommerce Pickup Number
  • DHL eCommerce Facility Code

For businesses using our dashboard, simply add DHL eCommerce from the Carriers tab, and select the parcel templates that you wish to ship with. Service levels will show up automatically alongside other carrier services in the next step.
