We’ll be speaking at APIDays Paris

I’m excited to be speaking at APIDays Paris this year in the Transportation Track. APIDays is a worldwide conference bringing together developers and architects to talk about APIs and microservice evolution.

I will be speaking about the “Benefits of Logistics APIs”, and sharing my journey as an engineer building and scaling an ecommerce business from just a few shipments to integrating and moving in with a 3PL, setting up for international shipments, and handling returns.

My journey in ecommerce started 6 years ago when I cofounded a custom jewellery startup, manually inputted orders, and brought them to the post office. Since then, I vowed to never let anyone manually handle shipping again. But as I moved on from my startup days to Joyus, the online video shopping platform, I realized that the problem was bigger than that.

I hope that my mistakes and learnings as an engineer and CTO building my own shipping infrastructure will be helpful to those who are looking to do the same. From getting core functionalities setup, to cost optimization, and scaling, there were many surprising obstacles that I never realized existed.
