Why We’re Excited for SubSummit 2021

We’re thrilled to be back in action — in person — during this year-end’s conference season, and we’re especially excited to make the rounds in Dallas, TX with the DTC subscription community at SubSummit 2021.
This year’s SubSummit takes place this Tuesday through Thursday (September 21-23), and will bring subscription business owners together to network, hear first-hand about innovations in the space, and attend sessions to learn how to build and scale their businesses. The event will gather industry experts and insiders to offer best practices and advice on how to efficiently grow a subscription business, build consumer trust, deliver a scalable e-commerce experience, and more.
Here are a few reasons why Team Shippo is so excited to join in on all the fun at SubSummit 2021:
Expert Sessions Led by Subscription Space Rockstars
The sessions at SubSummit promise to educate, energize, and inspire, touching on a wide range of topics that include growing your brand, building customer loyalty, and initiating business partnerships. Here are just a few of the sessions we’re most looking forward to:
Community is Oversold (Tuesday, September 21 @ 2:30-3 p.m. CDT): On Day 1, we’re excited to hear Shopify Head of Engagement Jamie Levy talk about how to dig a little deeper into what “community” really means, and learn how to truly build and facilitate connections with our biggest fans in the process.
Using Sustainability to Unlock E-Commerce Growth (Tuesday, September 21 @ 4-4:20 p.m. CDT): On Tuesday afternoon, Dane Baker — Co-founder & CEO of EcoCart — will host this actionable session about how subscription business owners can attract, engage, and retain a whole new generation of customers by delivering a more sustainable e-commerce experience.
Consumer Psychology Secrets to Supercharge Your Growth (Wednesday, September 22 @ 12-12:20 p.m. CDT: At noon on Day 2, Sr Director of Product Marketing & Development at hims & hers Alex Chahin, will give us 10+ lessons on behavioral economics — including real-world examples — that help retailers strategically scale their subscription businesses.
How to Get Your Brand PR Exposure (Wednesday, September 22 @ 2:30-2:50 p.m. CDT): Founder and Owner of Kids Baking Club Jill Lodato will moderate this session with True Serenity Tea’s Patricia Callwood, sharing tips and best practices for how to get a subscription brand featured in the press, including first-hand accounts of Tea’s own successes.
The event also kicks off first thing Tuesday morning with Subscription Box Bootcamp’s Julie Ball and her team hosting a workshop that promises to help attendees plan a year’s worth of top-tier boxes a single day — this could prove extremely useful for those getting their subscription business dreams off the ground.
Celebrating the Year’s Big Success Stories at the Cube Awards
We do love a good awards show — it’s all about the glitz, the anticipation, and, of course, the celebration of the industry’s leaders and forward-thinkers. SubSummit’s 2021 Cube Awards (Wednesday, September 22 @ 6:30-11:30 p.m.) promises all of the above, awarding winners across nine subscription categories including Best Kids Box, Best Food Box, Best Membership, and the overall Best Subscription Box. There’s also a new Thrive Award, given to a brand who succeeded despite all of 2020-21’s odds, as well as a Social Good Award.
Winners are scored and selected by SUBTA committee members and industry experts using a grading rubric created specifically for each category, and the special event includes dinner, drinks, and a VIP afterparty. We congratulate all the 2021 Cube Award nominees, and can’t wait to see who wins big at this year’s ceremony (or to get down on the dancefloor after)!
Networking Opportunities Galore
Of course one of the biggest draws of SubSummit is that it brings so many from the subscription business community together to share learnings, build connections, and have a good time. And after the past year and half, we’ve never been more excited to (safely!) get out and meet with the movers and shakers in the space.
Our team will be in the SubSummit Expo Hall at Booth #306 — if you’re attending this year’s event in Dallas, be sure to stop by, grab some swag, and say “Howdy!”
