Shippo Expands Executive Team with Key Leadership Hires

Industry veterans Kael Kelly and Teryle Aguilar join the executive leadership team to drive recruitment, culture, and continued adoption of Shippo platform

March 31, 2022 – San Francisco, Calif. – Shippo, a leading shipping platform for growing e-commerce businesses, today announced that Kael Kelly and Teryle Aguilar have joined the company as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Direct-to-Merchant (D2M) Business and Vice President of People, respectively. In his role, Kelly will own global marketing efforts as well as drive growth in the company’s merchant-centered business line, Shippo for Merchants, while Aguilar will oversee all aspects of talent strategy, including employee experience, acquisition, onboarding, performance management, compensation and benefits, and retention.

Kelly joins Shippo from Avalara, a SaaS-based automated tax compliance software for businesses, where he spent nearly a decade in leadership roles focused on customer acquisition and marketing. During his tenure, Avalara became a public company with 5x share price growth, and Kelly’s efforts leading Growth Marketing and Customer Acquisition resulted in revenue skyrocketing from $25M to $341M, a 55% CAGR. Most recently, Kelly served as the company’s General Manager of Compliance Documents Product, leading the business strategy and execution of the compliance documents product line. Over the course of his 20+ career as marketing leader, Kelly has driven marketing efforts for a number of early and mid-stage B2B and SaaS-based companies.

Aguilar brings to Shippo extensive experience leading global People teams across a variety of corporate environments, and has a particular focus on hyper-growth, building high performing teams and scaling people programs. Prior to joining Shippo, Aguilar worked at DoorDash, where she oversaw the HRBP function across the company. She has also supported people teams for leading companies Pandora, NBCUniversal, and Fisher & Paykel Appliances.
