Speed Up Your Shipping Label Creation in Time for the Holidays

For many e-commerce businesses, the holiday selling season is the most important time of year. Most retailers can expect to see a spike in orders as consumers’ purchasing habits increase. Before you start seeing dollar signs, keep in mind that an increase in orders also means an increase in orders to fulfill. If you’re doing much of the fulfillment process by hand, it’s almost impossible to keep up with a major influx orders—there simply isn’t enough time in a day.

Here at Shippo, we help you navigate the complexities of shipping and streamline your fulfillment process, so you spend less time prepping packages and more time running your business. To help e-commerce businesses (and our customers) prepare for the holiday season, we rounded up three Shippo features that can expedite the label creation process for faster fulfillment.

Print Labels in Batch

If you’re regularly fulfilling the same order, you can print the labels for all of those packages in one batch. That way, you don’t need to input package dimensions and weights for each package. You can choose the same carrier and service level for all of your packages, too. You have the option to edit individual packages before purchasing the label, so if there’s a few unique packages, you can still include them in the batch.

On the orders page, simply select the checkbox at the top of the page. Then, a green button will appear next to it. Click Create Label for Selected Orders and proceed through the label generation flow.

Save Package Templates

If you find yourself entering the same package dimensions and weights all the time, you can save that information as a Package Template, so you can enter all of the information in one click. It’s a great way to prevent errors due to manually entering the information, plus it saves you time. And, you can save as many Package Templates as you want to streamline all of your popular orders.

Saving a Package Template is easy. Go to Settings > Account, then scroll down. Click Add a Package and enter your package details in the prompt.

Our “How to Shippo” video walks you through saving a Package Template.

Add a Default Outbound Service Level

If you’re dialed in to your shipping rates and strategies, you likely have a go-to carrier service level that you use all the time. For example, if everything you ship is under 13 ounces and traveling to U.S. domestic addresses, USPS First Class Package Service (FCPS) is a good option to consider.

You can save a carrier and service level in the Settings tab so that the rates for this service level are pre-selected when you create a label. Then, you’ll be prompted to confirm and purchase the label or you can compare other rates.

These features will help you ship faster this holiday season, allowing you to scale and grow seamlessly. If you have any questions, please contact our support team at support@goshippo.com. Wishing you a happy holiday selling season!
