Monthly Product Digest: Batch Shipment Confirmation Emails, Default Return Service Level, & More

Here at Shippo, we’re committed to providing you with the tools you need to scale your shipping operations and ultimately grow your business. This month, we introduced features to expand and supplement our batch label workflow, so you can automate and streamline your fulfillment process.

Plus, we’re sharing a sneak peek of some of the exciting features coming very soon to the Shippo web app—jump down to the “Coming Soon” corner for more information.

Without further ado, here are the new web app features and updates you’ll want to test for yourself.

Send Shipment Confirmation Emails in Batch

Give your customers the transparent, reliable post-purchase experience they expect. After successfully creating a batch of labels, you can now send the shipment confirmation email to all customers. Plus, if you enable automatic email notifications, the emails are sent without any extra steps.

Save a Default Return Service Level

Up until now, when creating return labels in batch, Shippo would default to the same service level as the outbound package. You now have the option to save a default return service level, so that you can create a return shipping label with a different service level than your outbound label—putting you in the driver’s seat.

This is a great option if you use an expedited service to send your orders to customers, but don’t care about speed on the return trip. For information about how to save your default return service level, visit our Help Center article.

The “Coming Soon” Corner

Over the holiday season, we enforced our seasonal code freeze—no changes were made to critical workflows through January 2 in order to prevent disruptions to your processes.

Now that the code freeze has lifted, we’ll begin rolling out some exciting features and updates that we’ve been working on behind the scenes.

Fulfill Your Orders Even Faster with New Order Views

We’re updating our orders page with improved filtering capabilities so you can streamline and speed up your order fulfillment process.

First, we improved the filtering experience, giving it greater prominence in the Orders tab, so you can filter by date, destination, weight, shop, and shipping method. If you’d like to see additional filters, please send us a note at product@goshippo.com.

And, you can save filtered views to use again—and again—as future packages come in for fulfillment. This functionality helps you filter you packages in order to batch print labels for different service levels, like USPS Priority Mail International for global orders and USPS First-Class Package Service for lightweight orders.

Schedule a Pickup with DHL Express

Earlier this year, we announced support for scheduling pickups with the U.S. Postal Service. We’ll also begin support for scheduling DHL Express packages in the coming weeks so that your mail carrier will show up at your door at your convenience.

Once available, you’ll be able to schedule your pickups in the Shipments tab of the Shippo web app.

Set Up a Delay for Shipment Confirmation Emails

In addition to the ability to send shipment confirmation emails in batch, you’ll soon be able to implement a delay for your shipment confirmation emails so that once the label is created the email will be sent after the specific time has elapsed.

This allows you to rest easy knowing that if there was a mistake made during label creation—or you need to refund the label for any reason—you’ll have time to make those changes before your customer is notified about the shipment.

That wraps up our last product digest of 2018. We’re already looking ahead to 2019 and are excited to continue to help your business grow in the new year!
